My name is Maxime Francoeur and I'm a full-time Principal Software Developer and part time investor. To begin with, you should know that I'm dyslexic, which affects the quality of my writing. I'm an value investor.

At the age of 17, I became a poker dealer and a professional poker player from 18 to 27. After a few years I realized that I didn't like the lifestyle it demanded of me and studied software development.

I worked for a few years as a developer with the dream of launching my own start-up. A few years later, I created a start-up with three partners, which was a great adventure and an important source of learning. For a number of reasons, it didn't work out as I would have liked and I left the company. I continued my career as a full-time employee, which suited me better with three young children. The start-up lifestyle, which required over 70 hours a week, no longer suited me.

My investment experience, excluding the years when I only invested in BRK.B and ETFs, really began in 2017-2020. In fact, since 2020, I've started to take it seriously. I love reading and have challenged myself to read more than 36 books on investing a year.

My goal with this Substack is to expose my ideas and become more adept at writing. This skill will certainly help me in the long run.
